Overview

As the landscape for email security and regulations keeps changing, we here at ONE have your back!

Google and Yahoo announced requirements that email marketers must have in place by February 2024. Previously, these requirements were considered as best practices, but not mandatory. Going forward, Google and Yahoo are going to ensure that bulk email senders comply, or see their emails go to spam.

What are the requirements from Google and Yahoo?

Here's a quick summary of the new requirements:

Setting up a strong domain authentication by adding a DMARC policy ( Action Required, we'll show you how! )
Email recipients must be able to unsubscribe from emails with one click (No action required, we already ensure that all emails include an unsubscribe link)
Low Spam Threshold (We already ensure that your spam complaint rate should be lower than 0.05%, which meets Google/Yahoo's criteria)
The sender email cannot be from a gmail.com/yahoo.com etc. domain (No action required, we already do not allow this)

In short, there's not much you need to do except setup a strong domain authentication by setting up a DMARC policy! We'll show you how to do that below.

Q: What counts as an "Active Customer"?

A: Any customer with a known profile (specifically identified by either phone and/or email) and has placed an order, abandoned a cart, viewed a product or has explicitly consented to receive marketing. Although ONE tracks, stores, and manages all your customers including anonymous profiles and profiles that do not accept marketing ONE bills for only known customers who are active.

Q: Why am I being billed for "Active Customers" that your app didn't help collect?

A: Even though our platform's opt-in popups might not have helped collect your current contact list, our system still needs to make sure we're syncing and processing a lot of data related to your contact list along with other uses for that data. Here are a few examples:

Sending emails to all or segments of your email subscriber list
Setting up opt-in pop ups in such a way so that existing users are not eligible for new customer discounts
Using the order data that already exists in your store to showcase relevant information in the social proof notifications

Let's create a Campaign for the Spin Wheel! It is a gamification pop-up that provides around a 9.3% Opt In rate on average. The idea is simple - attract visitors with a gamified mechanic to spin the Spin wheel and gain a coupon code. The reward on each slice, as well as the probability of landing on each slice is fully customizable.

To create the Spin Wheel campaign, please go to the Pop ups tab click on “Create Popup”>Name the new pop-up campaign> click Add to Campaign button under the Fortune Wheel image>Select either Quick Setup if you do not want to spend much time on further customizations or Custom Setup to make deeper changes SEE HERE

How to Collect SMS Consent during Shopify Checkout

To collect SMS consent during the checkout flow on Shopify, you must update your Shopify Settings first.

Log in to your Shopify store's admin account.
Click on Settings.
Click on Checkout.

In the Consent for marketing section, fill in the checkbox for SMS marketing. Click Save.
